The Old Rectory: Exterior Courtyard. Facing North-West.

This collection comprises the images from a Descriptive Buildings Record (Level 2) at Old Rectory, Shady Lane, Burton Agnes, undertaken by MAP Archaeological Practice Ltd in 2021-2022

MAP Archaeological Practice Ltd, under instruction from Francis Johnson and Partners on behalf of Simon Cunliffe-Lister, recorded the Old Rectory prior to the removal of existing extensions and porches, erection of a garden room, removal of internal partitions and insertion of new doors and windows.

The Rectory is a Grade II Listed Building, which was built in the early 19th century and extended and altered in the later 19th and 20th centuries. The main building is currently a domestic dwelling and estate office, with a former cottage in the rear service wing.

The rectory is a two-storey main building and west range, with a two and a half storey range to the rear; which are stuccoed and painted with a slate roof. The main building and west range have a slate covered hipped roof and the east rear range has an east facing attic gable with cat-slide to send floor to the north. The service wing to the north consists of three storeys constructed in brick with a gabled slate covered roof.

There are single storey extensions around a courtyard west of the service wing and north of the west wing, which were rendered and painted with pantile single pitch roof.

The ground floor of the Old Rectory and adjoining service wing were photographed prior to the removal of partitions and interior walls, doors and windows.

Seventy high resolution digital photographs were taken to record the exterior and interior of the buildings.
