Introduction

General shot of building
General shot of building

This collection comprises images from a level 2 descriptive buildings record survey at Parkinson House, Preston, Lancashire undertaken by Paul Butler Associates in 2021-22.

An appropriate record has been made of the building. Floor plans and a representative cross section were required; the plans were amended from architect's plans which were checked for accuracy and the cross section was drawn on permatrace on site. The drawn record shows all features of interest that have been recorded photographically, as well as showing other features of historical significance that may not be directly affected by the proposal but which are necessary to put those features in context. The building was erected between 1849 and 1861 as number 30 West Cliff. It was built as a semi-detached dwelling with a double-pile plan. Such plans were common from the mid-18th century through to the 19th century. While this may be a late example of such a plan, it was likely erected as such to fit with the style of the others on the street, which were present in the 1840's.
