Introduction

Shot of Trench 8 looking North East
Shot of Trench 8 looking North East

This collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation of land west of Deane House, Deane, Hampshire. This work was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in December 2021. A total of 8 trenches were excavated.

Three Prehistoric pits, including two with dumps of hearth waste were recorded in the northern part of the site. An in-situ burning, possible hearth, was recorded in Trench 7. These may be related to the Bronze Age activity that was previously recognised in the area.

No finds and features were encountered that may be associated with medieval and post-medieval activity related to Deane House.
