This collection comprises of images, photogrammetry, reports, GIS and CAD data from a Historic Building Recording (HBR) survey of the two World War II structures at Portway Farm, Twyford, Buckinghamshire. This survey was commissioned by Fusion and undertaken by Wardell Armstrong between April and September 2021.
The works of HBR were required to produce an analytical record of the World War II buildings to the east of Portway Farm prior to demolition as part of construction activities relating to Phase 1 of HS2. The buildings at Portway Farm comprise a former radio communications station known as Station 53c, constructed by the Special Operations Executive (SOE) in 1944 to support their overseas operations. The site comprises two detached structures, the northern of the two buildings (Building 1) was the transmitter building, and the southernmost (Building 2), the generator building. Together these buildings served as the transmitter element of Station 53C; the receiver element being located several miles away at Poundon.
The in-depth analysis of the building in the course of the demolition of the building gave an insight into the construction of the building and its use. The survey and laser scan preserved the structure for future analysis of its structure and design.
