This collection comprises the digital photographs from a Level 2 Descriptive Buildings Record photographic survey of 19th-century and later buildings at 278-284 High Street West, Sunderland, undertaken by Archaeological Services Durham University in 2022.

All of the buildings have been significantly altered in recent times. No original internal features remain and nothing of historic interest or significance was found. The block of buildings contains parts of the shells of a few shops shown on the 1858 OS map. Part was redeveloped as a single building, probably during the second quarter of the 20th century. All of the buildings have been very substantially altered and all of the shop fronts have been replaced. Building nos. 280-282 were refaced before 1948. No original internal features remain and nothing of historic interest or significance was found.
