Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Introduction

Trench shot
Trench shot

This collection comprises images, spreadsheet data, a site plan, scanned site drawings and a survey statement from an archaeological evaluation on Land at Phase 6C, Cedars Park, Stowmarket, in advance of the residential development of the site. Work was undertaken by Archaeology South-East in December 2015.

Twenty trenches were excavated within the development area representing approximately 4 percent of the total area. Archaeological features and deposits were recorded in eight of the evaluation trenches. These were mainly in the north-west of the site area. A ditch of possible Roman date ran across the site, with other isolated features of unknown date in the vicinity. A medieval ditch was found in the east of the site. Both of these features are suggestive of boundaries. Evidence of modern disturbance was found in two trenches and can be correlated with features present on recent maps of the area. The site does not appear to contain any concentrated settlement remains.
