This collection comprises image, report, site record, spreadsheet, spreadsheet, GIS and CAD data from archaeological mitigation work at Crewe Farm, Warwickshire. The work was undertaken by Wessex Archaeology between 2019 and 2021.
The results comprise the heavily truncated remains of an urned cremation burial of Anglo‐Saxon date and associated features; prehistoric, Romano‐British and undated pits and short linear features; a parish boundary evidenced by a ditch and a gully; and a modern barn. Many further features were shallow, had uniform fills and were not dated by finds. It remains uncertain what proportion of these were archaeological features. The mitigation area was located within a single agricultural field approximately 1.3 kilometres east of Kenilworth and around 320 metres to the north of Stoneleigh Park and the River Avon.
The archive comprises the digital records and files created during the mitigation work and the subsequent post-excavation assessment and analysis. It is also includes paper records, photographic records, graphics, artefacts, ecofacts and digital data. The archive of these investigations is currently (as of May 2023) held at the offices of Wessex Archaeology in Sheffield.
