This collection comprises image, report, site record, spreadsheet, CAD and GIS data from an archaeological recording at South Cubbington Wood in Warwickshire. The work was undertaken between September 2019 and February 2020 by Wessex Archaeology for works related to HS2.
The mitigation area occupied 2.2 hectares and was centred on National Grid Reference (NGR) 435371 268408. The mitigation works revealed and recorded archaeological remains representing part of a settlement and enclosure system of Late Iron Age–Early Romano‐British date. The site was short‐lived, its period of occupation bracketing the Roman invasion. As a time of significant cultural and socio‐political change, this augments its significance.
This archive includes the digital records and files created during the 2019-2020 Wessex Archaeology Mitigation and the subsequent post-excavation assessment and analysis. It is also includes paper records, photographic records, graphics, artefacts, ecofacts and digital data. The physical archive of these investigations is currently (as of May 2023) held at the offices of Wessex Archaeology in Sheffield.
