Distinctive Features

This is a flat-bottomed amphora with a thick rounded rim, short flat handles with a central groove, and a broad shouldered body tapering to a narrow foot (Laubenheimer & Gisbert Santonia, 1996).

Origin

It was produced in coastal areas of the Valencia region of eastern Spain (Gisbert Santonia, 1998) with workshops identified at such sites such as Almadrava, Oliva and Catarroja.
