For this issue's centrefolds we present three images from Jonathan Bateman's work on the Gardoms Edge Project last summer, following on from those in the last issue from the 1996 season. As we're not confined by staples we can have as many as we like! Jonathan's concerns focus on the material culture of excavation and the nature of the creation of the "site" as an archaeological concept.
