Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

During the excavation all artefacts, including ceramics, were individually recorded as ‘small finds’. The numbering sequence on site ran from sf1 to 872 but not all numbers were used. The finds database contains information about 715 objects, although 23 have been discarded as natural objects. The database includes a small number of finds that were recovered by metal detector on site. The classification of the pottery corresponds with that of Austin and Jelley’s pottery report. Where objects are distinctively Anglian or Anglo-Scandinavian finds that have been classified as such, but undiagnostic finds of AD700-1000 have been grouped as ‘early medieval’.
