Two pillboxes of non standard design built into defences of 13th century castle. Built at the west apex of the castle site is a low squat pillbox with embrasures to the west and south. Entrance is by way of brick passage to east. Eastern pillbox has slight (3-4ft) ditch to west which is probably associated with it. The pillbox is built of concrete slabs and has two embrasures facing south. Entrance is through door to the north. Doorway covered by blast wall. Neither pillbox is camouflaged to appear as part of the castle. Grid reference is taken from the centre of the castle between the pillboxes.
