Two pillboxes joined by an 'L'-shaped sunken passage, access to which is gained by a square vertical shaft. There are remains of ladder-fixing points on one wall. Pillbox 2 has weed and moss growth on the floor, but the general condition is good. The stone shelf used to support rifles is excellent. The shelf ran the width of the brick wall to some 7ins outside and was duplicated above the embrasure. The two NE embrasures covered the road from Saddleworth Moor. The exterior of pillbox 1 has only a small section of the stone shelf surviving and the iron concrete reinforcing rods are exposed. [Recorder was not able to gain access to interior of pillbox 1].
