North Pennines Archaeology Ltd is an established archaeological contracting consultancy based at the heart of the North Pennines AONB, and is part of the North Pennines Heritage Trust group of companies. A registered charity, the Trust was founded in 1987, and is committed to education and social enterprise, carrying out conservation, restoration and interpretation work throughout the North Pennines. NPA developed out of the appointment in 1997 of an archaeology officer for the Trust; the unit was established in 2003 as a commercial archaeological practice, and is now the largest archaeological contractor working in Cumbria. In 2006, NPA opened satellite offices in Durham and Newcastle, and is rapidly becoming one of the most trusted archaeological units in the north of England. NPA have a growing reputation for high quality, objective and client focused results and are committed to professional integrity, maintaining high archaeological standards.NPA offers a full range of professional archaeological and cultural heritage services. The unit currently employs fifteen fully-trained staff., with a wide variety of backgrounds; in 2006, NPA also began to offer geophysical survey as an additional service. The management of the company have in excess of forty years combined experience in field archaeology, undertaken throughout the country.
