Summary
DescriptionThe castle & grounds were used for several areas of defence work ,including being a collection point for food to to sent to the troops. A military base & guard room for visiting regiments to Tonbridge. A recruitment office & an area to celebrate the Peace party where a tank was presented and remained in the grounds until 1937. Also in 1917 it was used to store a coffin containing M Robinet who was wrapped in lead, whilst the family made plans for his transportation back to the family vault in Belgium.
