Summary
DescriptionThe barracks was destroyed and built over by a new housing estate. All that renains if part of the front a perimeter wall which extends in length over 295m This contains the main entrance and a secondary entrance to the west. The wall contains several ealry shooting slots and one posible guards room overlooking the second entrance. The easterly wall is partlky destroyed to allow accees to the the housing estate. A part of the westerly perimeter wall also exists over 205m but inaccessible due to private property. Regimental depot for the Manchester Regiment, in WW1. Some mentions of use in training with trenches locally and Artillery practice in field off mossley road nearby. Part of aouth west corner wall cracking due to possible subsidence.
