Summary | |||||
Description | 'Canmore listing shows Osborne (2006) records a pre-First World War drill hall in James Street. The hall was not built in time to be marked on the 3rd epoch map (surveyed 1908) but it does appear (although not labelled) on the 4th epoch map (surveyed 1938). The building survives, with the hall visible behind. It is of brick, with a lightly-moulded door surround. A First World War date is not certain. In 1914 a drill hall in Dalry was the base for 'F' Company, 4th battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers. Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 16 September 2013. | ||||
