Summary | |||||
Description | Listed under 'Accommodation of Horses'. The building has undergone some updates and has a modern frontage. However, the majority of the building underneath remains the same. The building has a double pitched roof made of tile and there are two fronted double pitched sections running at a 90 degree angle to the main section. The brickwork is an English bond – red brick. The building has two storeys, however it would not surprise me if there were living spaces in the roof. On the right section, on the ground floor, there is a four vertical sash window with a painted black header. Above this, the building is gabled with a three paned bay window flanked on either side by a single sash window. The roof slightly overhangs this so that it sits on top of the bay. There is a large brick chimney stack that sits on the right of the pitch. On the main section of the building there is a double pitched porch that is the main entrance. This has a single entrance door on the front and on either side of the porch a single sash window. The porch is flanked on either side (on the main building) by a double sash window. On the second storey there is a double sash window with a triple sash window either side. The roof slightly overhangs this face. A brick chimney stack sits on the top of the double pitch. On the left section there on the ground floor, there is a four vertical sash window with a painted black header. Above this, the building is gabled with a three paned bay window flanked on either side by a single sash window. The roof slightly overhangs this so that it sits on top of the bay. There is a brick chimney stack that sits on this. On the left of the building the wall runs along the road towards the carpark. There are two double sash windows followed by two single sash windows. A double entrance is found at the end of this wall. On the second storey there are four double sash windows with a single sash window in the centre of them. The main section of the house interjects this straight wall and shows its double pitch. On this there is a large brick chimney stack. The rea of the property has been refurbished and a new function room has been added on. Another chimney can be seen on the rear of the building where there is a large gable and a double sash window sat in this. The building has some re-purposed gas lamps which are now electric. In the first world war this building was used as stables, interestingly, the coat of arms for the sign is a horse.' | ||||
