DescriptionCanmore gives 'Osborne (2006) records the Chirnside drill hall as being built in 1877. It is marked as 'volunteer hall' and 'drill hall' on the 2nd and 3rd epoch OS maps (surveyed 1898 and 1906 respectively) and continued in use as a Territorial Army Centre into the later 20th century. The front block is a symmetrical, three-bayed, two-storeyed building with a crow-stepped gable over the entrance. Single storey hall behind. In 1914 it was the drill station for 'E' Company, 4th battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers. Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 29 October 2013.' Now in use as furniture and antiques salesroom.
