Description | Alnwick Workhouse was used temporarily in 1914 as a holding centre for interned German seamen who had been in harbour at Amble on August 4th. Later used as a billet. It was used for some time as council offices and a Citizen's Advice Bureau. It will shortly be converted into apartments. | ||||
