Summary
DescriptionAccording to the Barnsley Chronicle 26 Dec 1914: 'The staff and scholars at St. John the Baptist Mixed School, Penistone, have made soldiers and sailors 30 scarves, 17 body belts, 25 pairs of cuffs, 20 pairs of socks and 27 pairs of mittens. The wool was obtained from the proceeds of a sale of flags. Household items have been given to the Belgian family in Penistone'. The school is visible on the Yorkshire CCLXXIII.SE Six-Inch Ordnance Survey map of 1907.
