Summary
DescriptionAs reported in the Exeter and Plymouth Gazette of 7th September 1914 the Lady Mayoress's work party at the Guildhall and later in vacant shop premises next door had provided nearly 5000 items to the Linen League for Belgian refugees and troops at the front. In Devon the War Hospital Supply Depots introduced in 1915 to co-ordinate the efforts of volunteers were organised through the Linen Leagues that existed pre-war.
