Summary
Description	Houses within the Crescent received damage from shell fire during the bombardment of Scarborough on 16 December 1914. Houses 7 and 8, The Crescent, Scarborough received a direct hit from a single shell fired by the Derfflinger or Von der Tann of the Imperial German Navy. The damage to number 7 & 8 remains visible, having being repaired with a lighter colour stone. Shell splinter scarring remains evident on the exterior of many of the houses in the Southern extent of The Crescent.
