DescriptionTheatre and Music Hall notable for first performance on 31st January 1912 by Jack Judge of the song 'It's a Long, Long, Way to Tipperary'. The song was written across the road in the New Market Tavern on Corporation Street to win a bet for five shillings that Jack could not write and perform a new song within a day. The song was adopted as a marching song by the 2nd Battalion Connaught Rangers and its popularity spread. The event is commemorated with a statue nearby.
