Summary5th Southern General Hospital
DescriptionThree storey front and rear classroom blocks enclosing central hall. Red brick with stone facings. The Girls Secondary School in Fawcett Road and adjacent boys school were taken over in August 1914 as the 5th Southern General Hospital together with Milton Infirmary. The BNJ account records that the hall was used for other ranks with officers and matron accommodated in the first floor classrooms. Patients would have been collected from ambulance trains at Fratton Station.
