DescriptionLarge three storey Edwardian mansion built for Lionel Dugdale converted to hotel in late 1970s. Red Cross staff record cards show that the house was used as an auxiliary hospital from November 1914 to July 1917. with Maud Violet Dugdale as the Commandant. This was the southernmost of the auxiliary hospitals linked to the Northern General Hospital No 1 in Newcastle.
