DescriptionVictorian country mansion built by Quaker and Hopetown Railway Foundry owner Alfred Kitching. The property passed to his son Alfred Edward Kitching in 1882. The house was used as an auxiliary hospital from October 1914 to November 1915. Mrs Annie Backhouse Kitching organised, established & maintained her Hospital entirely at her own cost & received no Government Grant whatever.
