Summary
DescriptionLiverpool Street Station was struck by three bombs on 13 June 1917; the date of the first daylight bomber raid on London. On this day 20 Gotha GI. V bombers of Kagohl 3 dropped over 100 hundred bombs on the capital, killing 162 people and wounding a further 432; the highest death toll from a single raid on the UK during the First World War The bombs started to fall on Liverpool Street Station at 11:40 hrs, killing 13 people and wounding many others. The first bomb failed to explode, the second struck Platform 9 and the final bomb hit a passenger train that was about to depart the station.
