Summary
DescriptionA bomb dropped during the first Gotha raid hit Tontine Street on 25 May 1917. People quieing for potatoes outside a greengrocers were caught up in the resulting blast. 60 people were killed as a result. The site is now marked by a memorial plaque, reinstated in 1917 to commemorate the centenary of this event.
