This building survey has been undertaken by MAP Archaeological Practice Ltd under the instruction Keepmoat Homes, to record the Sports Pavilion at the St. John Playing Fields at Hull Road, York, prior to its demolition.

The Site became playing fields in 1937 and a small pavilion being built in the north east corner of the site in 1938. The present pavilion was built between late 1930s-late 1940’s, first depicted on the 1948-1952 edition Ordnance Survey map. The central block is a brick two storey structure with two single storey wings either side. The building designed in simple Arts and Craft Style with timber covered veranda/loggia below half timber framed projecting first floor gable dormer. Seventy high resolution digital photographs were taken to record the exterior and interior of the building.
