Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Overview

The main products of the project comprise a GIS map layer, database and report. The map layer covers all of Northumberland, including the Northumberland National Park, North Northumberland Coast AONB and that part of the North Pennines AONB in the county, and is made up of over 15,500 polygons. Each polygon is linked to a record within the project database which holds detailed information on features such as boundary characteristics, field size, geomorphology, pattern, and change since the mid-19th century. A final report describes the project in detail, including methodology, overviews broad landscape types, description of individual historic landscape character types and historic character areas, discussion of time depth and change and links to regional research agendas.
