Title | Wharram. A Study of Settlement on the Yorkshire Wolds, XIII . A History of Wharram Percy and its Neighbours | |
---|---|---|
Abstract | This final volume in the series charts the history of Wharram Percy from later prehistoric times down to the 16th century. The first part summarises the excavation programme and analyses more recent earthwork and geophysical survey results. Part two reviews the evidence for fields and farms in later prehistoric and Roman times. Part three explores the evidence for Middle and Late Saxon settlement. Part Four charts the history of lordship from the 11th century onwards and its impact on the fabric of the village. Evidence for the fields, farms, homes and daily lives of peasant farmers both at Wharram and in neighbouring communities is also explored. |
