Notes:Silty clay layer below the \'lower clay\' in the southern aisle south of Room 3. Possibly part of an internal floor surface for the timber structure. After the loss of the silty part of this context, it looked more like a separate fill beside beam slot fill (5422) but the top silty layer did extend over the beam slot. Strat below (4636). Strat above (5422). Cut by [1729], [4615]. Completely removed in 2004.Plan no: 15.151 (drawn after top silty layer had washed away) {10/03/2005 KTOOTELL}
Composition: Compact, dark brown / yellow silty clayInclusions: 5-15% stones of all shapes (6-20mm) (2-6cm);  Occasional charcoalExtent: 0.3m x 4m;    Thickness: 0.05mMuch of the silt element was washed away by the heavy rainstorms of 2004 revealing three patches of orange clay and one patch of yellow clay.
