Context Number: | 6014 |
Description: | Floor surface |
Notes: | Silty clay floor surface, bounded to the immediate west by beam slot [5357] and to the south west by beam slot [5323]. It is highly likely that this is a floor surface within the north east timber house. This is made more likely due to the inclusion of fragments of CBM tiles which are most likely to be floor tiles due to their size. In comparison to the other contexts at this level inside the house, (6014) seems to have significantly more CBM tiles, perhaps indicating that this may have been a more important part of the house. Strat below (5996), (6038). Partially removed in 2005. To be completed in 2006. Plan no: 20.259, 29.282 |
Composition: | Hard, pale grey / yellow silty clay Inclusions: 8-12% stones (S-R) (2-6cm); 5-10% CBM Extent: 2.5m x 1m Clear edge definition |
