Further Information: A large wooded area (just east of New Barn) known on the 1838 tithe map as Quarry Hill, contains much disturbed ground, though the humps here are much less easy to see because of the many trees. Tatton-Brown and Professor Desmond Donovan are convinced that this area in addition to Dumplings Down were the most likely source for the stone for Salisbury Cathedral (Tatton-Brown 1998: 41).
