Further Information: A quarry can be seen at this location on the 1890 - 91 O.S. Map, however the present quarry was opened in 1934 and worked Purbeck-Portland Spangle and Pond Freestone. The stone is used for walling, door and window surrounds, paving and many other uses (Building Research Establishment n.d.).
