General Colour Description:

It is a blue/grey colour when fresh but tends to weather patchily to shades of fawn (Tatton-Brown 1998: 9).

Hand Specimen Description:

A hard, fine grained, compact stone which is well sorted with a smooth feel. There are four different types of Blue Lias, this is the fine grained, laminated stone to be found in the Somerton area.
