Hand Specimen Description: | A medium grained, hard, oolitic limestone with occasional broken shells. It is moderately well sorted with a rough feel. It is close in composition to Ketton stone, but contains some shell fragments and the ooliths are not as regular as in Ketton. Furthermore it is a little browner and not as hard (Clifton-Taylor & Simmons 1987: 86). |
