Usage

General Comments:

Cataclews stone is extremely well suited to sculpture being easily carved and resistant to weathering, many churches have or once had examples of Cataclews sculpture in the form of fonts and tombs etc (Pounds 1990 : 231). Reid et al. (1910: 91) mentioned that 'for fine tooling and for standing weather no rock in Cornwall is better'.

Known Usage: St Petroc's Church, Padstow: Windows and Font.,
St Merryn Church: Arcade Bays.
