General Colour Description:

White Grinshill is a whitish grey, creamy buff colour with brown speckles. A red and a pink Grinshill sandstone are also quarried which are brownish red or purplish pink in colour

Hand Specimen Description:

It is a medium grained rock which is rough, hard and moderately well sorted. It comprises quartz, microcline, muscovite mica, potash feldspar, granitic inclusions, plagioclase feldspar, flint/chert, quartzite and dark iron ore.
