Quarries

General Comments:

Coscombe Quarry is one of the few remaining quarries working Cotswold limestone. In previous centuries nearly every Cotswold community had its own quarry to provide the stone for their stone villages. Many of these stones were only used locally and are not found outside the district (Leary 1986: 30).

Known Quarries: Cotswold Hill Quarry, Ford,
Tally Ho Quarry, Bourton, Gloucestershire.,
Coscombe Quarry, Gloucester.
