Several 19th century quarries can be seen on Ilkley Moor, for example, Hanging Stones Quarry which was almost worked out by the late 19th century. However, there are tiny quarries all over the Moor and it is conceivable that these were used by the earlier inhabitants for stone circles, enclosures and huts. |
