Usage

General Comments:

The Mixon limestone was generally used in the local area of Sussex as a building and foundation stone. In the Roman period it was used at Fishbourne Palace (Cunliffe et al. 1971) for instance, for facing the west wing, as well as in a number of buildings in Chichester (Down 1988). In the Medieval period there is evidence that it was used in several ecclesiastical buildings, such as in the foundations of Pagham parish church (Freke 1980).
