Hand Specimen Description:

A relatively hard, moderately well sorted, medium grained, oolitic limestone. The ooliths are somewhat smaller than those of Ketton Stone (Howe 1910:217) and Painswick stone is almost identicial in colour and texture to Caen Stone (Watson 1911: 167).
