Usage

General Comments:

Roche Abbey stone was much used for building and carved work, but the bedding is irregular and although large blocks can be obtained, supply is uncertain today (Howe 1910: 196). It is also rather soft, especially in the lower beds.

Known Usage: Sheffield Castle, South Yorkshire,
King's College, Cambridge: Groined Roof,
Roche Abbey, South Yorkshire.
