Hand Specimen Description:

Hard, compact, usually blue hearted, sparsely oolitic limestone (Ashurst & Dimes 1990: 103-104). Lowest and hardest of the three beds in Stamford Quarry which is suitable for building (Clifton-Taylor & Simmons 1987: 186). Average thickness about 2 ft.
