General Colour Description:

There is both a 'White' stone which is a white/grey colour and a 'Blue' stone which is a darker blue/grey colour.

Hand Specimen Description:

A fine grained, very hard, compact limestone, well sorted with a smooth feel. There are two types, the first is a white limestone (the White Lias) which is a grey colour, the second is a blue limestone (the Blue Lias). Their surfaces are rather mottled and smooth with no evidence of shell (Leary 1983: 71).
