Description: | A Roman coffin excavated at Poundbury, Dorchester was made of Ham Hill Stone. The coffin is now in the Dorset Country Museum and is of such size and good quality that it can only have come from a well developed quarry, probably on the west side of Ham Hill (Stanier 2000: 76). | |||||
