Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

A Catalogue of Pictures of Surrey and Elsewhere by John Hassell (1767-1825) and his son Edward (1811-1852)

JAMES C BATLEY and GERARD P MOSS

Over the period 1820 to 1833 John and Edward Hassell produced over 2,000 watercolours of Surrey but almost none of the surrounding counties. Together with the aquatints and engravings produced by John Hassell, 2,164 pictures of Surrey are catalogued including the 1,755 which were recorded on two reels of microfilm. An additional 907 non-Surrey book illustrations and watercolours by both artists are listed on the microfiche (now online on this website).
