Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The Sutton Hoo Field Reports

Please use the second menu above or links below to navigate to the various downloads sections. Users should also be aware that, due in a large part to its age, the material archived here has largely been digitised from hard copy paper publications or A3 size site plans. As a result of this process and the desire to capture the material at a suitable level of detail many of the files available for download are larger than would normally be expected.

The Field Reports are presented here in four parts:

  • Field Report texts - Texts of reports in ten volumes.
  • Site Atlas - Map of excavated area providing access to abridged plans showing the locations of 2,000 principal features.
  • Site Album - A selection of photographs from the fieldwork of the 1983-2001 campaign. Also includes photos from the earlier excavations (1938 onwards).
  • Finds Index - Database files, arranged by intervention, of 100,000 objects.
